MUMBAI:
Municipal corporations and municipalities are considered important in the development of the state. If all cities develop equally, there will be no imbalance in development in the state, said Deputy Chief Minister
Eknath Shinde.
Since more than 5 crore citizens live in urban areas, solving the problems there will have to be given priority. Shinde assured that the government will cooperate with the municipal corporations and municipalities for this.
He was speaking at a workshop organized by the Urban Development Department for the state's Municipal Commissioners and Chief Officers of Municipal Councils at Yashada.
Municipalities should work with a specific goal in mind and use artificial intelligence in their work. While ensuring that new slums do not arise in the future, they should also focus on
community development. For this, emphasis should be placed on field visits and important project visits. This will ensure quality work.
If the people are given the right houses, cities will become beautiful and well-planned. More attention should be paid to ensuring that there is no encroachment in cities. Cities can be made more beautiful by implementing initiatives like sewage management, recycling of treated water , waste to energy , and a better public transport system, said Shinde.
Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde , Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal , Additional Chief Secretary Asim Kumar Gupta , Principal Secretary Dr. K. H. Govindraj and others were present at the program.
In the past, people-oriented schemes were planned by the government and many public interest decisions were taken. Earlier, initiatives like ' Government at your doorstep ' were implemented.
It is necessary to work for the benefit of the people with greater speed to fulfill the hopes of the people. A 100-day action plan was implemented so that the people can get various services and facilities of the government effectively and to speed up the administration. Emphasis was placed on investment, visits to field offices , cleanliness , administrative reforms. Now, the 150-day program will also be implemented in the same manner to give impetus to the development of the state, Mr.Shinde said.
He also appealed that while the state is moving forward in all fields, a brainstorming session should be held through workshops to develop our cities.
